Privacy policy

Memundo reads school email for families and turns it into one list of what each child needs and when. It isn't open yet. While it's being built, it handles email for one family only: the founder's own.
This page says what Memundo does with personal information today, and what will change before other families join. We'll update this page before any of it changes.
Who we are
Memundo is built and run by one person in Australia. To ask about your information, or to make a complaint, email privacy@memundo.app.
This website
memundo.app is a set of plain pages. It sets no cookies, runs no analytics or advertising trackers, and has no forms. Like any web host, our host Vercel receives your IP address and browser details to deliver each page, and keeps short-lived request logs. Vercel is a United States company and may handle those logs outside Australia.
What Memundo holds
Each family gets a private address at private.memundo.app and forwards school email to it. Memundo keeps:
- A copy of each forwarded email, exactly as it arrived. School email can include children's names, schools, classes, timetables and sometimes health details, so we treat all of it as sensitive.
- A short record of each email: which family address it reached, when, and the results of standard spam, virus and sender checks.
- Family settings: the family's name and forwarding address and, once sign-in exists, each adult member's name and email address.
Email sent to an address that no family owns is not recorded. Its copy is deleted with the others (see below).
Apart from Amazon's standard spam and virus scan and one technical header (the email's Message-ID), nothing reads these emails automatically yet, and no AI sees them. The founder can open stored emails to test and fix the service.
Where it is kept
Everything Memundo stores is kept in Sydney:
- Email copies in Amazon Web Services (S3, Sydney region), private and encrypted at rest.
- Records and settings in a Supabase database in Sydney.
- The app itself runs on Vercel in Sydney.
Mail servers must use an encrypted connection to deliver to us, and our services talk to each other over encrypted connections.
Who else handles it
We use these companies to run Memundo. They handle information only to provide their service to us.
- Amazon Web Services: receives and stores email, in Sydney.
- Supabase: the database, in Sydney.
- Vercel: hosts the app (in Sydney) and this website.
- Sentry: error reports and a sample of page timings from the app, stored outside Australia. Before an error report leaves the app we remove email addresses, IP addresses, cookies, form contents and web address details. Reports are built to carry only ids and technical details, never email content.
We don't sell personal information, show advertising, or share it with schools or anyone else for their own use.
Coming next: reading with AI
The next step is for Memundo to read each email and pull out what matters: dates, things to bring, forms to sign. When that is switched on, and we will update this page first:
- The email's text will be sent to Anthropic's Claude API, which processes it in the United States. This will be the only time email content leaves Australia. Anthropic's commercial terms don't allow it to train its models on that data.
- The AI can only read. It can't send email, follow links or take any action. It suggests items for people to check, and only people decide who looks after each one.
How long we keep it
- Email copies are deleted automatically 90 days after they arrive. Before other families join, we plan to shorten this to 7 days.
- Email records and family settings are kept until the family asks us to delete them. Automatic clean-up is planned: readable email text for 90 days, attachments for 7 days, and each item until a year after its date.
- Error reports and hosting logs are deleted by Sentry and Vercel after their standard retention periods.
Your choices
- Email privacy@memundo.app to ask what we hold about you or your children, to correct it, or to have it deleted. We'll reply within 30 days.
- You can stop forwarding at any time. Anything already received is deleted on the schedule above, or sooner if you ask.
Children
Memundo is for parents and carers. Children don't sign in or use it. Information about children reaches Memundo only in the email their family forwards.
Australian privacy law
As a very small business, Memundo may not be legally bound by the Australian Privacy Principles. We aim to meet them anyway, and this page is written with them in mind.
Changes to this policy
When something here changes, we'll update this page and the date at the top. If the change affects how your family's information is used, we'll tell you before it takes effect.
